photos: HIKING TO CUCAMONGA PEAK via ICEHOUSE TRAIL + Biblical Inspiration

THE ICEHOUSE CANYON TRAIL parallels a creek for quite a ways as well as a "SLIDE" (shown above) for a while...
there are also numerous cabins (still being used) near the beginning of the trail as well as REMNANTS of CABINS
“Thanks be to Godwho always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him.

THE FIRST JUNCTION gives you the choice of staying on the ICE TRAIL by the creek or taking the longer CHAPMAN TRAIL to the SADDLE...GOING up I stayed on ICE TRAIL...coming back I enjoyed the Chapman Trail despite it being almost 2 miles longer..

“I am suffering ... Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him for that day.”

this rock looked like petrified wood
“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
the 2nd TRAIL JUNCTION is the option to take CHAPMAN TRAIL LOOP back around to ICE TRAIL... a nice hike by itself, but today the BIG GOAL & PRIZE is CUCAMONGA PEAK..we continue upward ...

it's a great hike...but about the only UNIQUE diversity along the way are different TREE PERSONALITIES... LOTS of big ones,...each with different character..

made it to the first (AND ONLY) BIG JUNCTION..KNOWN AS "THE SADDLE"... from here there are NUMEROUS OPTIONS, including Baldy Notch and Ontario Peak, among others..it is VERY CLEAR by the signs which way to go...it is WELL POSTED..

ABOVE THE SADDLE..the wind began to pick up ...quite strong...and also we were above the LOW MARINE LAYER that engulfed all of LA and SAN BERDU county on this day..so we were actually IN THE SUN...not too hot...and looking down on the city engulfed in clouds... quite a view..

...it was ALMOST like lookng down on the ocean

the PEACE TREE

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."

"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into
the kingdom of the Son he loves..."

SIGN-IN BOX ALLOWS YOU to have your say at the top...i wrote "MADE IT, GLORY BE TO GOD !!
THE SIGNS were just like the "welcome" signs you find on some homes..not sure if they are put there by the rangers or by hikers..but they are NOT secured (NOT nailed down) which is nice so you can hold it or move it for different photo-ops

there's a ROCK SIMILAR to the famous "potato chip rock" in Poway San Diego (albeit a little less dramatic)... see https://www.google.com/search?q=potato+chip+rock&rlz=1C1GCEA_enUS796US796&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwivo7u29IDbAhUO7mMKHdseBq8Q_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=662

"He had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement
for the sins of the people."
Hebrews 2:17

another wood sign was broken in to two parts

LOTS OF ROCK SLIDES HERE would be fun to try "rock skiing" ...also see

"God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons."
BACK AT THE SADDLE

ontario peak is only slightly lower than cucamonga peak at 8696 feet, but is not  one of the " 6-pack" peaks of southern california
"Command them [the rich] to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous
and willing to share."

as mentioned, i took CHAPMAN TRAIL on the return..which is the "high road' ...a trail that cuts thru the middle of the slide

i saw a deer on the way back near the trailhead
"Now to Him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ... to the only wise God be glory
forever through Jesus Christ! Amen."
